Job Description

1. Strategic and business development, delivery of the business plan - To

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic goals, objectives and financial plans to meet the short, medium and long terms needs of MH
  • Support the Board to create an annual operating plan that supports the strategic direction agreed, and correlates with annual operating budgets
  • Develop the fundraising of MH, putting plans in place to ensure sustainability, with a focus on raising unrestricted funds
  • Develop and maintain a performance management system that measures progress against the operating/business plan

2. Board effectiveness and overall good governance - To

  • With the Company Secretary, ensure the Board is aware of its legal obligations and conducts MH’s business in accordance with its Rules
  • With the Company Secretary, ensure that MH operates in compliance within the relevant laws and regulations
  • Ensure the effective line management of all staff and the maintenance of effective working relationships (see note 5)
  • Support the Chair in maintaining an effective Board achieving excellent corporate governance
  • Maintain an effective risk management framework enabling risks to be assessed, mitigated and controlled
  • Oversee the production of the Board’s Annual Report and the final annual statutory accounts and the liaison with the Auditors to ensure a smooth audit
  • Where necessary, prioritise tasks, ensuring key tasks are delivered efficiently, mindful of costs

3. Identification of new housing projects for beneficiaries - To

  • Promote the work of MH to potential beneficiaries, including through churches and other Christian organisations
  • Identify and pursue new housing projects, which are financially sustainable
  • Explore new funding opportunities and partnerships

4. Promotion of Mission Housing, management of stakeholder relationships and maintenance of good reputation - To

  • Identify realistic, deliverable and sustainable opportunities for partnership working with churches and Christian based organisations
  • Develop and implement an effective Marketing and Communications Strategy that promotes and enhances the work of MH
  • Be an Ambassador for MH at all meetings and events
